Setenil has only two hotels: Hotel Villa de Setenil in the old town and El Almendral on the edge with its own car park. Everything else is a holiday let, many in cave houses under the rock. Stay in the old town to see the streets empty, on the edge if you drive, or in Ronda for more choice.
Setenil de las Bodegas has two hotels and about 60 places to stay in all. Hotel Villa de Setenil is the only hotel in the old town. El Almendral sits on the edge of town with a car park and a pool. The rest are holiday lets, many of them cave houses built under the rock. Which one suits you depends on two things: whether you are driving, and whether you want to wake up on the cave streets.
The tourist office keeps the full list, with addresses and phone numbers, on its Dónde dormir page. Most entries are small lets for 2 to 10 people on Calle Cuevas de la Sombra, Calle Callejón, Calle Jabonería and Calle Calcetas.

The old town is the reason to stay at all. The coaches arrive between about 11:00 and 14:00, and a 2026 Spanish guide notes that most visitors leave in the afternoon for Ronda or Grazalema. Stay the night and you get Calle Cuevas del Sol before breakfast and after dinner, with almost nobody on it.
The price is logistics. No old-town lodging offers parking, the lanes are steep, and some of the cave apartments are reached by steps only.
Parking when you stay in Setenil
Don’t try to drive to your door. The streets are narrow, residents’ bays are being added in the historic centre, and the town has no parking of its own in the old quarter.
Most drivers staying in the centre use the Los Caños covered car park on the Olvera side of town. It is paid, but the town hall publishes no official tariff, so check the price at the entrance (checked October 2026). Our routing puts it about 4 minutes on foot from the tourist office and 10 minutes from Calle Cuevas del Sol.
For the other car parks, the bus stops and the routes in, see how to get to Setenil de las Bodegas. If you arrive by car before 11:00, finding a space is much easier.
Old town: hotels and cave houses
Hotel Villa de Setenil
The only hotel in the old town is at Calle Callejón 10, a minute’s walk from the tourist office and about 7 minutes from Calle Cuevas del Sol. Its own website describes a rural hotel with a breakfast buffet, rooms with private terraces and El Mirador restaurant, which looks out over the houses in the rock. It also offers an airport transfer service. There is no hotel car park mentioned anywhere official. The underground car park at the foot of Calle Calcetas is about 50 m away in a straight line, and a Booking.com guest describes the hotel as close to a nearby garage. Booking lists it among Setenil’s budget hotels. It suits couples and anyone arriving by bus who wants a proper hotel with a restaurant. See the Hotel Villa de Setenil website or Hotel Villa de Setenil on Booking.com.
Casa Bajo la Roca
This one-bedroom holiday let at Calle Cuevas de la Sombra 9 sleeps four, and it is on the cave street itself, under a minute from Calle Cuevas del Sol. It has air-conditioning and a balcony. There is no parking; the nearest mapped car park, a free surface lot by the bus stop, is 2 to 3 minutes away. That lot is not on the official list, so check the signs. Couples or a small family who want the rock overhead will like it. Casa Bajo la Roca on Booking.com
Cueva Luxe Las Calcetas
Two apartments of about 30 m², each for two people, on Calle Calcetas. That is a stepped footway below the castle, so no car can reach it. The good news is that the underground car park sits at the foot of the same street. Bring a bag you can carry up steps, and skip this one if stairs are a problem. Cueva Luxe Las Calcetas on Booking.com
Casa Cueva Las Chicas del Puente
A one-bedroom cave house for two, about 35 m², with the cave wall left exposed inside. Listings place it within 10 minutes’ walk of the Encarnación church; we could not confirm the street. No pets. It is a couples’ stay, booked through Ruralidays. Casa Cueva Las Chicas del Puente on Booking.com
Edge of town: a car park at the door
Hotel El Almendral
El Almendral is run by TUGASA, the hotel company owned by Cádiz province, on the Puerto del Monte road at the edge of town. It has 27 rooms, 16 of them with a balcony over the pool and garden, plus air-conditioning, a restaurant and facilities adapted for disabled guests and cyclists. The hotel calls its car park a big advantage over old-town lodgings, and it is right: you park at the door. It does not say whether parking is free.
The hotel says the historic centre is about five minutes on foot. Our routing gives about 13 minutes to Calle Cuevas del Sol, so plan on 10 to 15. The outdoor pool opens in the warmer months. Tour coaches park on the esplanade outside the restaurant during the day, according to one walking guide, so expect buses nearby until mid-afternoon. It is the pick for families and drivers. See the El Almendral website or El Almendral on Booking.com.
Avalon in Setenil
Rooms with mountain views and free private parking, on the edge of the town centre. One guest’s advice is worth repeating: you need the car, because the walk back up is steep. Couples with a car are the natural fit; walkers who dislike hills are not. Avalon in Setenil on Booking.com
Camping El Nogalejo
The campsite on the Alcalá del Valle road, at km 1, rents bungalows, cabins, barrels and old railway wagons, and has a pool, a restaurant and a motorhome section. It says the village is 1.2 km and 15 minutes away on foot; our routing makes it closer to 22 minutes to Calle Cuevas del Sol. This is the only overnight option for motorhomes we found, which matters because the town’s traffic ordinance bans living in a motorhome on the street. Families on a budget and motorhome travellers should look here first. Camping El Nogalejo website
Countryside: space and a pool
Hotel Las Errizas by Vivere Stays
Just over the municipal line in Alcalá del Valle, on the road to La Atalaya, Las Errizas has 20 rooms, three pools including one for children, and a tennis court. Listings show free parking on site, and Booking groups it with Setenil’s budget hotels. You will drive into Setenil every day. It suits families and groups on a budget. Ronda as a base instead
Ronda is 19 km away, about 30 minutes by car, and it has far more hotels. Without a car, the Sierra de las Nieves line 66 bus runs from Ronda to Setenil in 45 minutes for €2.32: five buses a day Monday to Friday, three on Saturday and none on Sundays or public holidays (operator timetable, checked October 2026). Sleep in Ronda and Setenil becomes an easy morning trip. Our guide to where to stay in Ronda covers the areas and the hotels by the bridge.
If one night is more than your plans allow, the most-booked day trip from Málaga, shown above, pairs Ronda with an hour in Setenil and a ride on the little train. Olvera, 15 km away, is the other base worth knowing about; see our Olvera guide.
Which Setenil hotel to book
- Couples who want the cave streets: Casa Bajo la Roca, on Calle Cuevas de la Sombra. If you would rather have a hotel with a restaurant, Hotel Villa de Setenil.
- No car: Hotel Villa de Setenil, a minute from the tourist office, with the Ronda bus for getting in and out. Not on a Sunday.
- Drivers: El Almendral, for the car park at the door and a 10 to 15 minute walk in.
- Families: El Almendral in summer for the pool. On a tighter budget, Las Errizas.
- Motorhomes: Camping El Nogalejo, the only place we found where you can sleep in the van legally.
- First trip to the area, or travelling on a Sunday: stay in Ronda and visit Setenil for the morning. Our walk through Setenil fits in three or four hours.
